SHANE COLLSON

I was a Holistic Therapist when I first discovered yoga back in the 90’s, whilst backpacking round the world. It was when I was living in New York that I attended my first ever yoga class.

After returning back to the UK, I began practising yoga for many years. In 2010 I travelled to India and qualified as an Ashtanga Yoga Teacher, and in 2013, I returned back to India to study Vinyassa yoga. I now hold a 500 hour RYT teaching qualification.

I have been teaching yoga for just over 3 years in and around New York and Baltimore. I teach in various settings from gyms to one-to-one sessions in the clients’ homes. I also teach live, online yoga classes which transmit globally to the rest of the world. This is a new way of teaching and it’s so much fun.

I attend regular teacher trainings and workshops and have trained under some of the world’s leading teachers including Shiva Reas, Jason Cradall, Patric Beach and Kin McGregors.

My preferred style of yoga is Vinyassa, as I enjoy taking my students on a new journey each class. Some journeys will be more challenging than others, however the journeys will always be different. The beauty of yoga is that it treats you holistically, working the mind, body and breath. I feel so grateful to be able to share this knowledge with like-minded students.

For me the biggest surprise with practising yoga is that I am able to deal with what life throws at me without the need to panic and worry like I used to. On a physical level I can now do the splits when before I started I couldn’t even touch my toes. Apart from the obvious benefits that yoga brings such as flexibility, strength and a calm mind, yoga also targets many other areas such as increasing energy levels, aiding sleep, enhanching our immune system and aiding detoxification.

So, I invite you to try it for yourself.
